Hi there.
So knowing which direction you are headed, I am attaching some sites you should check out and then we can chat and see where these might take you. Since I have public art next week at our time, we can figure out another time to meet. Check these out and text me when you are done looking and blog about it.
Be well. AHC
ReplyDeleteI found the article on scientific innovators particularly cool because I do often feel like science and art are portrayed as separate things but that is really not the case in many instances. Both use observations from the physical world around us to try to understand and communicate what is happening in our world and lives. I did find that Audubon interesting too, as there was a point where they talked about working from live and dead animals. It did also raise the question of when are we right in killing an animal for our own goal? Is that ever right? That could be argued both ways and has been for years.
I guess you can then apply that to how we have changed our landscape as humans. Where do we draw the line between sacrifice to move forward and avoidable destruction? You can see that in the Hawaiian ecosystem in all of the invasive species that have been introduced, both on purpose and by accident, and all the native species that are now extinct. But this is what we have left now, so how do we work with it? How do we change it? Is there a way to fix what we have done or will we just make it worse? Is this just what the ecosystem is now?
I don’t really know where to go with these thoughts as far as this project is concerned yet, but I do think it is interesting to think about.
